This piece is a statement about our societies move away from natural materials and environments in favor of synthesized materials and environments. LUSH serves as reminder that we must strive to find a balance between our virtual realities and the true wilderness of nature. We can use beauty as a mechanism for cohesion.
We plan to use a CNC laser to cut the plant shapes out of wood with acrylic plant-themed accents. The LED tubes are a DIY design involving high-density LED strips, sourced materials and some creativity. The fittings for the tubes are all designed and 3D -printed in-house using a heat-resistant and UV-resistant material. The entire structure will be decorated with a variety of vibrant, lush plants.
